British Airport Authority

Health and Safety executive published a review in 2007 where British Airports Authority (BAA), through The Physiotherapy Network, measured the impact of intervention in each case, giving the company measured absence prior to each assessment and after the first assessment, to either ill-health retirement or resolution of the problem.
The numbers are astounding.

BAA reports have shown an average of 23 days absence, prior to the first assessment with the physiotherapist and only 1.7 days lost after treatment.
When looking at a return on investment BAA have shown that,  on average, a spend of £215 per case treated compares with 22 days absence that it has saved  and by each case this gives a direct and up front saving on wages based on the company’s own figures of £500,000 in 6 months.
